I was wondering if there was a simple way to rename files. I am currently using a complicated set of actions to get it done but it is not reliable. Ideally, renaming a file according to a set variable would be great. Any ideas?

Hello,
I’d recommend using DOS rename through a batch file commands such as REN. If you can be very specific I can help.
Other method would be to create a macro that cuts a name from a text files, alt-tab to the explorer, arriw-down, f2, paste (from memory)

I was wondering if there was a simple way to rename files. I am currently using a complicated set of actions to get it done but it is not reliable. Ideally, renaming a file according to a set variable would be great. Any ideas? Hi Mike, To script this out with MMM I'd use the FILE MOVE action ( www.turnssoft.com/conditions.html#filemove). 1 | FOR | EACH | FILE IN | D:\Dropbox\File\myfiles | DO 2 | RUN ACTION | FILE MOVE | %FILE%::%FILE.PATH%\%I%.txt::UI 3 | FOR | NEXT A FOR EACH FILE loop here is looping through each file in the file directory 'myfiles'. The FILE MOVE action is using the internal FOR loop file based variables ( www.turnssoft.com/conditions.html#for) for %file% being the full file path, %file.path% being the file folder path, and %I% being the for loop numeric file counter. The FILE MOVE at line 2 picks up the file in the for loop, and moves it to the same directory but with a new name of %I%.txt being the for counter.
